Jan Loveday 1911 – 7th February 2008

Long time residents of Denton may remember Jan Loveday who lived at Hillside (now Sawyers) with husband George and family – Birt, George, Dorothy, Brenda and Jan. In the early 1970's Jan and George moved to Norwich. While living in the village Jan was involved in the village activities, especially the WI and was president for many years. To celebrate 50 years of WI nationwide the Queen gave a garden party at Buckingham Palace and one member from each institute was invited. Jan was voted our representative and on her return gave us all a vivid account of her special day. She was a lovely lady and was sorely missed when she and George moved away.
For the past seventeen years she has lived near to Brenda in Darlington and died in hospital on 7th February aged 97. Our thoughts go out to her family as we remember such happy times in her company.
