The Year of the Virus - Mark III

At the end of 2021 it was hoped that the end of the Covid Emergency might really be in sight, but, unfortunately, while some restictions were relaxed, the threat continued.

However, overall, things were definitely better and a number of normal Denton activities could resume.
Amongst the highlights were:

  • The Return of Boule -
The Black Hand Cyder Society were able to resume their regular summer Boule sessions at the Darrow Green Road Bouledrome, courtesey of the Godsmark family.
  • The Gardening Club Show -
Returning after a two-year gap, more than 60 members took part despite the summer drought.
Further details were recorded in the Club's Show History Section.
  • The Art Exhibition -
Denton's Art Group held an Exhibition of their work, the first for four years.
A report on the Group's Page recorded its success.
  • The Village Supper -
Another returnee after two years, the traditional autumn event was a great success with nearly 100 people attending.
    The Pictures speak for themselves.
  • Panto Plans -
Denton Variety Club had been hit hard by the Pandemic but, at the end of the year, plans for the normal February production were firmly laid.
A script, for "Camelot - the Panto", was purchased, a cast assembled and rehearsals commenced. Roll on February.
  • Festive Celebrations -
If any proof was needed that things were definitely returning to normal it was surely the great success of the restored Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve celebrations at the Village Hall.
  • Other Regulars Returning included -
Last Friday Food, Tuesday Lunches and we benefited from regular visits from the Pizza van. Bingo and Beetle Drives were held once again.
