Denton a village in South Norfolk, England

Back To Normal - Almost

After three years of restrictions forced by the Covid Emergency, it was great to see nearly all the normal village activities return. During the year cases of the dreaded virus were recorded but, thank goodness, they seemed much milder than in previous years. However, fingers remain crossed!

Amongst the activities that did return were:

  • Wassailing
There was a great turn-out for this January festival. However, the anticipated, "fruitful", apple harvest did not result. Did the ceremony lack something perhaps?
  • Panto Report
Denton Variety Club had been hit hard by the Pandemic but, at the end of 2022 plans for the normal February production were firmly laid.
A script, for "Camelot - the Panto", was purchased, a cast assembled and rehearsals commenced. The performances in February saw packed houses having a great time and the cast and back-stage crew enjoyed it just as much, if not more so.
As usual, details of the cast, a review and some excellent photographs can be found in the DVC Section.
  • The Table Tennis Tournament
The last Village Ping Pong competition was held in March 2020. It was great to see it back. Twenty-six players, of all ages took part.
the results were recorded in a News Item from that month.
  • Two Quizzes
The normal pattern of two Quizzes per year, one in February one in the Autumn returned.
The results were recorded in February and October News items.
